March on Washington

Jul 10th, 2009 by TC | 0

Come join us In Washington DC and let your voices be heard on out-of-control government spending and taxation. We have a government that will advance its ideology at our expense. We can no longer afford new government programs. Protest is a time honored tradition, it’s time to join that tradition.

There will be two members of Carbon Phallusy attending this march. We will be protesting climate change regulation as well as the above mentioned items.

Hawaii Demands Solar Water Heaters

May 7th, 2009 by TC | 0

Tell me if my math is right here. $5000 for the heater tacked to a 25-year mortgage. That would be 6% interested times $5000 = $300 annually. Spread that over 25 years and that turns the $300 into $7500, so that makes the total cost of the heater $12,500.According to solarpay.com.au the lifespan of a water heater is 10-15 years, while the solar collector itself will last 20-30 years. It seems that about time you finish paying that $12,500 for the solar water heating system, it’s going to be time to replace the unit. For myself, I see the 20-30 year lifespan of the collector to be on the high end.

Electric Cars go cold

Jan 24th, 2009 by TC | 0

chevy-volt-hh-001.jpg

Now that we have a new president that is interested in solving the so-called problems of global warming, it’s made me start thinking once more about the electric car. Also, since we are having some of the coldest weather in recent years, I began to think about what it takes to heat that electric car.

In conventional cars with an ICE (internal combustion engine) we use waste heat from the cooling system to keep us warm in the

Hydrogen For The Road

Dec 18th, 2008 by TC | 0

Typical hydrogen filling station. We have talked about hydrogen cars before. This is coming to my attention again since a friend has been experimenting with extracting hydrogen from water to increase the mileage for his truck. He has the process working, but there are some problems. The biggest is heat generation. As the water heats up, due to electrolysis, the electrical current goes up. There are ways to dissipate the heat, but that doesn’t solve the problem completely. Heat is loss, therefore lowering the efficiency of the process. The more loss of energy you have, the less chance at a successful project.

Cap and Trade

Nov 24th, 2008 by TC | 0

Cap and Trade is basically setting a limit on the amount of carbon a company can output. Those of you that believe in global warming will applaud this cap. Well things get a little complicated after that, okay a lot complicated.

CFL Facts

Sep 18th, 2008 by TC | 1

An example of a common compact fluorescent(CFL)Why should people use CFLs?
Switching from traditional light bulbs to CFLs is an effective, accessible change every person can make right now to reduce use at home and prevent greenhouse gas emissions that contribute to global climate change(If you believe in such a thing). Lighting accounts for close to 20 percent of the average home’s electric bill. Changing to CFLs costs little upfront and provides a quick return on investment.

Sarah Palin on energy

Aug 31st, 2008 by TC | 0

092607govpalinfish.jpgHere is some information on Sarah Palin and her energy policies. Just to note, she was my choice for McCain to pick as his vice president. I know most of the country never heard of her, but she is more than than capable for the job and I think she will be for sensible legislation on global warming.

Sarah Palin

Palin’s tenure is noted for her independence from big oil companies, while still promoting resource development.[5][12] Palin has announced plans to create a new sub-cabinet group of advisers, to address climate change and reduce greenhouse gas emissions within Alaska. [18] Shortly after taking office, Palin rescinded an appointment by Murkowski of his former chief of staff Jim Clark to the

Arctic ice refuses to melt as ordered

Aug 15th, 2008 by TC | 0

Once again NASA satellite data tells us something different. The adjacent photos tell a different story, and that is the ice pack grew to identical to 2002, 2005 and 2006 levels. As I have discussed before Arctic Ocean ice levels are controlled in part to ocean currents. Over and over again the estimations of arctic melting is over exaggerated.

Pandering for Enviromentalist

Jul 31st, 2008 by TC | 0

environmentalist.jpgWe are all concerned with the rising cost of gasoline. It not only cost us directly as we pump the gasoline into our car,. it also cost us as in rising cost of food and most everything we use. Everything is shipped by some form of oil. I know many of you are dealing with it in many ways. There is one thing in this area that most don’t seem to know. I have written how the Democrats don’t want to drill for new oil. Now we find that they have a pending 10 cents per gallon increase in federal gas tax

Wind, the next panacea

Jul 18th, 2008 by TC | 0

Every time we turn on the television there is some democrat telling us that we need more wind and solar. They want us to be free of oil. That is global warming talk, not energy independence. It takes all forms of fuel to free us from importation of energy. That includes oil, and lots of it. If wind was a viable energy source, don’t you think every electric company in the world would be building towers in mass? Imagine they could sell you electricity when it cost them almost nothing to
